Abyss School Overview:
Abyss School insects that come in a surprising variety! Over 20,000 different kinds flit around the world, some super tiny and others almost as big as your thumb. They can’t handle the cold though, so you won’t find them in Antarctica.
Most bees are loners, building their own homes and raising their young by themselves. But some bees are social and live in big groups with a queen bee in charge. These are the ones that make honey!
Bees have three main body parts: head, chest, and belly. They also have four wings for flying and six legs for grabbing pollen, which is like their food. Tiny hairs on their bodies help them collect lots of pollen from flowers.
As bees fly around looking for food, they pick up pollen on their bodies. When they land on another flower, some pollen rubs off, helping that flower make seeds. This is called pollination, and it’s super important for plants and the food we eat!
So next time you see a bee, remember they’re more than just honey makers. They’re busy working to keep plants healthy, which means plenty of fruits, vegetables, and yummy food for us!
