Small Wars Mohicans is a strategy game which dives deep into the French and Indian War of the mid-1700s, based on the 1983 Canadian board game Mohawk. The game starts in 1754 and runs until 1760, the year after the British captured Quebec—a pivotal moment in Canadian history. Players take on the role of either the British or the French, battling for dominance over northeastern North America in a mix of regular armies, local militias, and Indigenous allies.

The British come in with superior firepower is reinforcements from Europe, but the French have the upper hand in mobility and terrain knowledge, thanks to their Indigenous allies. Dense forests and tricky terrain give the French a chance to ambush, raid, and disrupt British supply lines. Meanwhile, the Iroquois Confederacy plays a key neutral role, is both sides must earn their favor.

To win, the British need to capture three of the French cities, like Montreal or Quebec, by 1760. If they fail, the French win by default. The French can also flip the script by capturing British cities like Albany and either New York, Boston, or Philadelphia. Combat takes place in various forms, including ambushes, raids naval battles, is sieges.
