The Great Rebellion Overview:

The Great Rebellion is a Cyberpunk 2D run-and-gun with Rogue-lite mechanics where the main control is done with the mouse or twin-stick shooter. The game itself is composed of levels with random layout and numerous options with a difficulty ranging from easy to hardcore with permadeath, musical score that changes depending on the situation and an upgradeable protagonist.

Taking place in the pseudo-future, the primary focus is on the machineries, the upper classes of the hierarchy with their principal desire – to transfer their personalities into supercomputers and escape the biological constraints of human corporeality. These mighty rulers will do all they can to achieve what they are aiming at, and this means that the only one who can get in their way is you.

You will be killing enemies and progressing through stages that are randomly generated, with both graphics and animations having a clear, 16-bit, retro pixel art style. The game features a dynamic sound track that rises in tandem with the heat of the game and there are over sixty weapons with which to blow away your mechanical opponents. Into its later stages, players may progress in level, acquire flowers which will help in transforming their character, and gather treasures in order to recruit additional characters to help in the combat. You will also meet the ghosts of European fighters, with whom you have to become friends so that they gave you magical abilities to help in rebellion.

The setting for this narrative is a dark-society Europe in the year 20XX where the Mega corporations, especially the Lucis Lux Mega-Corporation dominates every aspect of the society leaving the people with no say. You start as Human 10. 28, a man who is tired of mere being an object in this cruel world. He has to dedicate himself to fight against his new antagonistic, almost unbeatable opponent for his liberty and for mankind.

This is a dystopian, cyberpunk world in which you will need to continuously strategize, move deliberately, and be ruthless when you have to deal with oppressively powerful enemies, and at the same time fend for yourself in a world that is on the verge of complete social collapse.
